vCenter root Password Expired Using Shell Command Reset New Password

vCenter root password is expired login to vCenter appliance, you will get following error message when you try to log into the appliance via management URL.

“Exception in invoking authentication handler User password expired. ”

This because forgets to change the vCenter root password before it expired.

First, log into the vCenter appliance via SSH and still your expired password is valid to login.

Then type “shell” and press enter to enable shell commands.

Then enter passwd command to reset the password. this will ask the new password two times and once you enter it correctly, you are good to go with the new password.
